Microfiber Cloth
As chrome taps are more prone to attracting dust there may be a build up of dust over time. I personally recommend a dry wipe with a microfiber cloth. The microfiber cloth is able to pick up more dirt than your average cloth.
Take your microfiber cloth and wipe down your fixtures whilst applying gentle pressure and ensure that you have a new cloth for each fixture. Alternatively, if you don’t have a microfiber cloth then you can replace it with a duster. Try to refrain from using harsh cleaning pads to wipe down your chrome taps as it will most likely cause scratches on the surface of the fixture.

Once you have wiped down your chrome fittings, you will want to get them to sparkle. If you simply don’t have any time to go out and buy cleaning products then you can use simple products you may already have at home. This will save you time and money.
Some of the best home remedies to clean your chrome taps are using products such as nail varnish remover, lemons and even coca cola!
- Nail Varnish Remover – One of the ingredients you may see in nail varnish remover is ammonia. Ammonia is a powerful chemical which in this case can help you break down limescale and help bring your chrome back to life.
- Coca Cola – Due to the citric acid found in coke it acts as an excellent tool to help break down any rust particles. Just simply pour the liquid on your taps and allow to settle for 4-5 minutes and simply wipe off using your microfiber cloth. The taps may be sticky but just simply pour water on them to get rid of it.
- Lemon – Lemons are a handy and fast way to clean your chrome taps. Take 2-3 lemons and scrub your taps applying slight pressure whilst using the pith of the lemon, be sure to switch lemons when needed. If there is a lot of grime then it won’t hurt to leave the juice of the lemon on the tap for 3-4 minutes. After simply wipe away any debris using your microfiber cloth for a satisfying finish.
