Why People Come Back to Thailand Year After Year

Anyone with sufficient wanderlust has probably spent a serious amount of time on the Internet searching up interesting and fantastic places to go throughout the world. It stands to reason that in a world so big, there really isn’t all that much time to keep going back to the same place once you’ve already experienced it. Thailand is a major exception to that school of thought purely due to how enchanting a country it is. Not only that, each time someone visits Thailand, it’s likely they’ll have scores of new experiences to try out or even a handful of things they didn’t manage to get done the last time. Simply put, Thailand is a top vacation destination that attracts a significant number of repeat visitors.

But then, why is this the case? Here are some reasons:

Stellar food

Most people from the West take some time to get used to the additional spices present in Thai cuisine, a process that’s as worthwhile as it’s delicious. The sheer range of flavors on offer on any given menu is a mixture of local herbs, spices, and sauces. Restaurant fare is inexpensive and some of the tastiest in the world, with local curries such as massaman or green curry frequently placing in the top ten favorite foods of visitors. Even their plentiful street food is unique and full of flavor.

Warm people

Informally, Thailand is referred to as the Land of Smiles, a name that’s much more than a nice advertising slogan. It’s very common for Thais to welcome foreigners with open arms and share as much as their culture with them as they possibly can. It isn’t uncommon to be given extra food for free because the restaurant owner doesn’t want you to leave their establishment without trying their signature meal. Thai people are laid-back, helpful, and accommodating at each and every turn. In fact, it isn’t uncommon for tourists who take an unexpected detour to end up eating dinner with a Thai family before being given proper directions and sent on their way.

Unparalleled natural beauty

While the climate of Thailand is largely tropical, there does exist significant variation throughout the land. The north of the country is noted for its rolling hills, dense forests, and spectacular mountain ranges, while the south of the country has hundreds of square kilometers of old-growth mangrove forests on top of islands galore. Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi attract thousands of visitors each year who want to take in the sights, smells, and sounds native to those islands. The tourism and diving industries are very developed on the southern islands, making it nearly impossible not to find something to do and something beautiful to see.

Conclusion

Don’t underestimate the amount of time you’ll want to spend in Thailand if you’re considering visiting. Having a few buffer days before and after each spot you plan on going to can change the course of your trip for the better. There’s simply no way to know ahead of time what opportunities will come your way while spending time in the Kingdom of Thailand. That’s not to mention the fact that there just simply isn’t enough time to take in all of the sights and experiences possible in Thailand over a single lifetime, let alone a single trip.
