7 Ways to Boost Your Gym Motivation

More often than not, we feel quite lazy and not motivated enough to hit the gym, especially in the summer when we would rather do anything else then sweat in the gym. On the other hand, there are people who are not gym rats at all and want to start exercising this summer, but they simply don’t know how. Once again, we are presenting you with some ways in which you can boost your gym motivation, as this is literally the only thing that you need – motivation to get up off that chair, put on your workout clothes and hit your local gym or a trail where you would be able to jog. Take a look:

Turn up the music

It’s shocking how much motivation a good song and a good playlist can create. This is why one of the best ways to get your gym motivation is by getting ready, putting some amazing tunes on your phone, hitting the gym and simply waiting for the moment to run on the treadmill or lift those heavy weights while you’re listening to your favorite song. Make sure to stock your phone with upbeat songs though, as the slow ones will not make you motivated enough.

Fashion as motivation

Apart from these two, you can always turn to fashion as a source of motivation. Yes, it’s true, this can definitely serve as a good motivator. Namely, go outside and buy gym clothes that you want to wear while working out. It’s always better to have something new and fashionable rather than old t-shirts and shorts. You make yourself go to the gym once you buy them (as you will not want for that money to go to waste), and more importantly, gym clothes always look good on you, so you will want to go and show your body and style.

Speaking of fashion

One of the most important fashion trends of today is definitely athleisure, and regardless of you being a gym rat or not, the chances of your rocking it are quite high. This means wearing sports clothes outside and looking hella sexy in them, so the line between what’s for the gym and what’s for sipping coffee outside is definitely thin. So, you can always find your motivation by getting gym clothes and then making your whole look much more interesting with one of the many fashionable puffer jackets on the market. On the other hand, you can also use this when you want to go jogging outside during the winter or on a fall morning next to the river when it’s a bit chilly. Be that as it may, it’s definitely a great way to get back to exercising.

Make a habit out of it

Once you start going to the gym, everything will be easier when you make a habit out of it, and keep it consistent. This way, it will become a part of your routine and you will not feel lazy the next time you have to get up in the morning in order to hit the gym.

Set goals

Another way in which you can motivate yourself is by setting yourself goals and promising to give yourself something as a reward once you’re done with them. It’s very important to be realistic, so it would be a good idea to talk to your personal trainer first (or any other worker at the gym you’re working out at) and see what your realistic expectations should be. Remember that the key is starting small, and making baby steps.

Avoid your cellphone

One of the biggest challenges is to leave behind all of the obstacles that prevent you from going out. This includes Netflix, movies and also social networks – which basically means your smartphone. In order to have the most productive training, leave your phone either at home or in the locker room. You will not need it – you will see the missed calls and the messages once you finish with your workout. You might be using some apps to track your scores and your performance, but you will easily do that later. If not, put your phone on airplane mode (and swear not to change this during your workout), and use it only for the apps that you’re using.

Track your progress

Speaking of apps, having an app that will track your progress can be extremely motivating. It’s always good when you see how far you’ve come, and the best gym smartphone apps let you do this without any problem. Another way is by writing everything down in your own journal – this might be the old-fashioned way, but it can work as well. You will not know how many calories you have lost during a workout, but you will be able to see on your treadmill or bicycle the approximate number of calories you have lost and the mileage.

The most difficult part of exercising is not lifting heavy weights, but actually getting ready for the workout and finding the motivation. We need to do this in the best way we can, so hopefully, we helped you just a little bit. Good luck!
