Camping Essentials for Camper

I cannot think of a more exciting and more adventurous outdoor activity than camping. It’s the perfect outdoor fun activity for families.

Now try to imagine this; a residential-style kitchen, a fully-furnished living room, and a cozy bedroom, all on wheels. That’s what you get in most modern campervans and trailers.

Some even come with heated bathrooms, aircraft-grade leather seats, Wi-Fi connection, and inbuilt mega speakers. Even the simplest ones have every necessary thing you find in a furnished home.

Admittedly, it never gets more enthralling than that. You should know, however, that a camper doesn’t come with everything, especially a rental one.

Yea, it may be fully furnished with essential kitchen, living room, and bedroom hardware, but you need to bring a few personal essentials.

You may also need to bring a few comfort necessities.

So that you can understand my argument, here is my list for The essentials every camper needs.

Camping Chair

You don’t expect to spend most of your time inside the camper, no matter how comfortable its seats are. You have to be out often to at least enjoy the sun and fresh air.

You shouldn’t, however, stand for long as it is tiring. Therefore, you need the best camping chairs, preferably with footrest.

Such an outdoor chair shall give you absolute comfort in the outdoors. It shall also offer you relief from muscle ache and back pain, especially after a long day of outdoor adventure.

Besides, a majority of camping chairs with footrest are collapsible and carriable. So, you can even use it inside the camper if the chair number is limited or if you don’t like their design.

Safety Camping Essentials

We expect campers to come with fire extinguishers. If it is not there, then ask about it.

What you should pack first in your safety essentials list, however, is a first aid kit. Yes, there could be an emergency kit, but it may not have everything you need to administer basic first aid.

So, ensure you bring your home first aid kit or buy a travel option online. It should have adhesive bandages, pain relievers, insect repellents, and antibiotic ointments at the very least.

You should also remember to pack a fire alarm in case of a fire breakout and a whistle in case you want to shout for help.

Also, bring sunscreen to the camp if you are camping around summertime and some pepper spray to keep you safe against predators.

Kitchen Camping Essentials

We also expect campers’ kitchens to come with a cooktop, a small fridge or freezer, and some cookware and cutlery. But, is that everything you need to prepare food? Of course not!

You need some food, which you should buy in bulk, and ensure you keep perishables in the freezing unit. If your fridge or freezer is not enough, then bring your portable cooler.

You also need to pack your coffee maker for brewing your favorite caffeine drink at night and in the mornings.

Other essentials are:

  • Garbage bags
  • Paper napkins
  • Dinnerware
  • Lighter/matches
  • Dish soap
  • Bedroom Camping Essentials

Just imagine moving into a new bedroom. What should you bring? That’s the case with a camper’s bedroom.

For starters, you need to pack your bedroom comforts. That includes bed sheets, blankets, and pillows. You also need to pack some hangers for your clothes.

It’s also vital that you confirm that there is enough space for all of you to sleep. If it’s not, then you should carry a few sleeping bags.

And in case you fear for mosquito bites, make sure you pack some mosquito repellent.

Clothing for Everyone

The worst experience you can have at a camp is not having enough clothes and shoes. It can get very comfortable for you, and you wouldn’t want that.

So, pack a suitcase for everyone and ensure you include the following where applicable in each:

  • Jackets/ sweatshirt
  • Pajamas
  • Swimsuit
  • Pants
  • Shorts
  • Long sleeve shirts
  • Socks
  • Undies
  • rain gear
  • Footwear (hiking boots, sneakers, flip flops, etc.)

You can also include a sunhat if you are camping in the summer when it’s expected to be scorching hot.

It’s also here that you should remember to pack medicines for anyone in your household who is under prescriptions. And if there are no pain relievers and anti-sting ointments in the first aid kit, include them.

Outdoor Fun Camping Essentials

A camping adventure can only be as fun as you want it to be. So, bring everything that will spike up the excitement.

For starters, bring some music, which you can carry on your phone, radio or any other portable device. To amply the sound and to make the music fun to dance to, pack a portable Bluetooth speaker.
