A Helpful Guide to the Different Types of Tables for Your Home

When it comes to furnishing your home, tables are a very important part of your decor list.

Tables come in a variety of shapes, sizes, styles, colors, and materials. Figuring out what tables you need for your home can sometimes be difficult.

If you’re not sure where to start, check out this guide below to learn about the different types of tables for your home.

Coffee Tables

One of the most important tables to buy for your home is a coffee table.

Coffee tables, also known as cocktail tables, are typically placed in living rooms. This is a low table with four legs that is typically rectangular in shape. In addition to being a place to set your glass down, coffee tables are also great for holding books and magazines.

Many people like to decorate their coffee table with flowers, candles, small statues, or other decorative items. If you need additional storage in your home, you should search for a coffee table that comes with a cabinet underneath it.

Console Tables

Console tables are another important element for furnishing your home. This is a narrow table that’s designed to be propped against a wall.

Typically, console tables are used in hallways, although you can find them in other rooms. A console table is a perfect place to store miscellaneous items like keys, dog leashes, candle lighters, and other everyday items.

End Table

End tables, also known as side tables, are placed on both sides of armchairs and sofas in your living room.
These tables serve both a decorative and functional purpose. They’re a great spot for placing your remote, drinks, or books while curling up on the couch. Typically, end tables are a bit lower than the sofas or armchairs they sit next to.

Dining Table

As the name suggests, this type of furniture is primarily used when eating. Many people have two dining tables in their home: a kitchen table for everyday, informal meals, and a dining room table for more formal, special gatherings.

If you have a big family, you’ll want to purchase both a dining room table and a kitchen table. If you don’t have a lot of household members and limited space, then one table will be just fine.

If you have very limited space in your kitchen/dining area but would still like to add a table, then we suggest a tulip table or marble Saarinen table.

Entry Table

It’s also very important to have an entry table in your home.

This type of table is usually found in the home’s foyer or just inside the main doorway. This is a great place to set your mail, keys, purse, or other items you need to grab on the way out of your home.
