5 Different Types of RV’s

Did you know that there are many different types of RV’s out there? Many people just hear the word “RV” and automatically associate it with the pop-up camper that their parents had when they were little. However, there are tons of different options out there and each type has its own distinct function, style, pros, and cons. So before you pull the trigger on your RV purchase, it’s always a good idea to do some research to make sure that you understand all your options since it’s a pretty big long-term purchase! You want to make sure you get it right. Thankfully, we are here to help break down all the different types of RV’s for you so that you can decide which is best for you:

Travel Trailers

Travel trailers are a great option because they are easily towed and don’t necessarily require a huge truck to do so. There are many different size options available that can fit anywhere from one person to four people. There are also many different amenities available depending on your priorities so you can either stick with the basics or go all out! These trailers are really convenient because you can easily detach them from your towing vehicle to use it for errands and excursions without having to worry about maneuvering the trailer for such a short trip. A road trip using your RV is always memorable for you and your family. You can have all the necessary things with you so you can enjoy your trip comfortably.

Fifth Wheels

Similar to the aforementioned travel trailers, we also have fifth-wheel trailers. Fifth-wheel trailers can be larger in size than travel trailers, especially since they have an extra area called a gooseneck that extends out from the side of the trailer. The downside of this feature does mean that a fifth-wheel trailer can only be towed with a truck. The upside of this feature is that the trailer has more of a connection with the towing vehicle and can be easier to maneuver than traditional travel trailers. However, the fact that it requires a truck for towing instead of a van or SUV limits the number of passengers you can fit in the vehicle.

Pop-Ups

Pop-up campers are usually small, affordable, and simple. They are easy to tow and easy to maneuver due to their small size. However, there’s a real lack of interior space and little to no storage space as a result. Pop-up campers are a great alternative to traditional tent camping but aren’t really ideal for long trips or larger families.

Toy Haulers

Toy hauler trailers are essentially travel trailers or fifth-wheel trailers with additional storage area in the back for toys like golf carts, bikes, ATV’s, etc. This is a great option if you love to bring along tons of big toys for your outdoor adventures. With a toy hauler, you don’t have to worry about hauling a separate trailer to store all of your extras — it’s all in one! However, this extra storage does limit the actual interior size that you are able to use, so toy haulers might be a bit cramped for bigger families.

Motorhomes

Finally, we have the legendary motorhome. There are actually three types of motorhomes: Class A, Class B, and Class C. Class A is usually the biggest and is a great luxury RV option. Class B is more like a van that is smaller and simpler. Class C is the midsize option that features a truck-like cab with a gooseneck that extends over it. In all of these, you can get great amenities and features, so it really just depends on what you’re looking for.

With all these different RV types out there, there’s definitely one that was made for your family and your lifestyle. Some of them don’t even require you to get a gas-guzzling truck! No matter which type you go with, make sure that you purchase a quality product from a reputable company.
