6 Tips to Crack SCAT Without Coaching

The SCAT exam is just around the corner and all of us want to achieve high scores for obvious reasons. I am not saying that it is going to be easy, but yes, it is very much attainable, provided you are determined to put in all the hard work.

And, for all those determined and hardworking students, Etutorworld has enlisted 6 amazing tricks to help you crack SCAT with flying colours:

1. Know about your exam

First up, you need to know everything about the SCAT exam – right from the syllabus, exam pattern, to the number of hours you will be allotted to complete the paper. But, that’s not all, you also need to have a comprehensive plan in place before you jump into the hardcore preparation for the SCAT. Find the previous years’ question papers and analyze each subject thoroughly and prioritize your schedule accordingly. Now when you have chalked out your daily schedule, don’t loosen its strings and follow it to the T.

2. Use the right study material

Books become your best (worst) friend during the exam days. There is no running away from them. To expand your knowledge, you need not be restricted to books. You can also consider question banks, previous year SCAT test questions, sample question papers and a lot more. All of these are easily available in the nearby bookstores. Pick out the best study materials that will help you comprehend your strengths and weaknesses. If you still think you need a push, there’s no harm to seek help from experts or tutors. Tutoring can expand your horizons in ways you have never imagined.

3. Sit for online mock tests

Online mock tests are of immense importance in your preparation for a couple of reasons – it helps you analyze where you stand on the ladder of preparation, gives you a sense of the D-day and helps you develop time-management skills. Apart from that, the results give you a reality check about your preparation. Once you are done with your basics, my recommendation is to start slow with one or two exams every week. Then slowly and steadily, appear for upto 4 tests a week. The results are shown almost immediately after the exam, note down your errors, silly mistakes and key areas of improvements.

4. Study in groups

You are definitely not the only person appearing for SCAT amidst your friends. Call your friends and invite them over, form small groups and study together. Group study sessions have multiple benefits – You can together brainstorm on multiple topics and solve difficult questions. One topic that might be difficult for you, can be relatively easier for the other. Resultantly, each one of you can help prepare the other one better. You can also solve previous years’ questions together and sometimes organize fun activities together.

5. Partner up with the internet

Everything you want for the upcoming SCAT is readily available on the internet. The education websites, news websites, and social media groups will help you greatly. All the books, papers, and important study material are also available to be downloaded for free. However, just because everything is available doesn’t mean that every study material is reliable. It is important to double-check because we have found instances where the information available online wasn’t correct. Long story short, buddy up with the internet and use it in your best interest.

6. Stay confident and motivated

Not many people talk about confidence and motivation, but I feel these two factors are of utmost importance in order to achieve the desired results. If you have enough of either of these two, it will get you going everytime you face a hurdle. There can be a lot of stumbles along the way – poor scores in the mocks, test anxiety, but if you have confidence in your abilities, you will get through. Nothing is impossible if you are ready to work for it. So, adopt a positive attitude, take care of your mental health and never give up on hard work.

Before you jump to conclusions, these tips do not mean that I am against coaching for SCAT. Infact, coaching can render immense help for students who are not self-driven. But, in case you have shouldered the responsibility on your own shoulders, let me tell you, it’s not impossible!
