Relive Steel Wheels on DVD

Picture this: the year is 1989. Batman and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade are showing in theaters. The cold war is ending. The game boy is out.

Your hair is permed, your pants are parachute, your shoulders are padded. You’re rocking a power suit, an awesome pair of Docs, some chunky gold chains, maybe.

You’re living the dream. It doesn’t get better than this, right?

Then you hear the best news you’ve heard all year: The Rolling Stones are going on tour again. It’s been 7 years. You buy your tickets for a ridiculously cheap price, by today’s standards. You grab your friends and you go to the Steel Wheels tour.

An Iconic Tour

The Steel Wheels tour was considered iconic for several reasons. Launched in August of 1989, the tour was The Rolling Stones’ first in the better part of a decade. It spanned the course of nearly a year with legs in North America and a few performances in Japan.

It boasted not only astounding ticket sales but also an intricate, industrial-style set. It was a mammoth of a stage featuring multiple pyrotechnics.

It was a remarkable experience for those of us lucky enough to get tickets. But concerts are temporary and fleeting, leaving us only with memories.

If you’re having trouble remembering back that far, you’re not alone.

The good news is, with today’s technology, you don’t have to let that experience live on in memory.

Incredible Guest Stars

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Bill Wyman, and Charlie Watts joined the stage for 60 showstopping tour dates. We all know that The Rolling Stones by themselves are incredible, but this tour featured other big-name stars.

Sharing the stage with the Stones were icons like Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Eric Clapton, and John Lee Hooker, to name a few.
